Adobe InDesign – Typesetting & Publishing

You are here: Home / Darren’s Small Business Tools / Adobe InDesign – Typesetting & Publishing

inDesign

I’ve used InDesign occasionally when working on print projects. Much of the InDesign functionality is also present in Illustrator.

If you’re producing paginated books or materials with a publishing format, this software might be useful as part of your workflow.

My experience with InDesign began in 2007 when I worked in the ad services department of a local newspaper. We used the software daily to create vector graphics for the classified sections.

It’s nice being able to important paths from Illustrator and Photoshop. So if you’ve already created paths for a logo in Photoshop and need to re purpose these in a more capable design tool, importing them is easy.

Tutorial Video

How To Get Started With Adobe InDesign CC – 10 Things Beginners Want To Know How To Do – This is the best video tutorial I’ve seen introducing InDesign. The host is demoing the Creative Cloud version of the software, not CS4. But the principles are the same and many features shown in the video exist in old version of InDesign.
